Indecision and Inaction are two of the most over-illustrated examples of why individuals fail over and over again. Over years most of us are told what failure is and how to expect it and what neat little packages by which it can show itself to you. Unlearning years of deeply trained lessons of inhibitions to succeed is a daunting task, to say the least.

I may be preaching to the choir, but it is worth preaching about when failure is so abundantly rampant. I have been there myself. I am still there today. I constantly struggle to keep my focus on success and moving forward. Often, I am pulled back a step by what I have come to learn as “failure”. But what is failure really?

Failure has several definitions, because it wants to get you at every angle possible. One definition, according to Merriam-Webster, is “a failing to perform a duty or expected action”; another is “lack of success” or even “falling short”…

All of these definitions have haunted each and every one of us at some point in our lives. The only time that failure is actually a failing is when you give up on your dreams, give up on success, and give up on trying. When you have forward momentum, you have not failed. If you stop and do nothing (inaction), you have succumb to failure.

The other huge obstacle is “indecision”. Indecision prevents us from getting things done. It causes us to sit and ponder “What if?” We never move beyond the dream phase to actually making a concerted effort to build and live the dream!

How is one to expect anything less than failure if all that ever happens is indecision and inaction? We all owe it to ourselves and our families to be a beacon of success in, not only our own lives, but in their lives as well.

My intention with this article is to separate, simply, how mundane failure really is and how simple it is to overcome by a mindset of forward movement. Don’t let a sense of failure make you think you’re never going to make it when you don’t give it time to work. All good things come in time, but you do have to establish a plan and work toward it.

Now is the time to act, don’t sit around with the idea you’ll get back to this later or “whatever…”, you owe it to yourself and your family and YOU CAN DO IT with just a little effort to make a decision to succeed. Don’t settle – build your dream!
